Barb Byrne began her journey into fused glass in 2009 when she took a class at a local community center and fell in love with the medium. She has continued to gain experience through live classes, online webinars and tutorials, private tutoring, glass forums, books, and lots of experimentation.
Barb's first glass pieces consisted of jewelry and small home decor items. Gradually, she expanded into larger home decor pieces and then into more abstract and complex art.
For close to 20 years, Barb lived on a 300-acre farm in the beautiful Missouri countryside close to the Gasconade River. Her connection to animals and nature drew her into doing animal portraits and landscapes using fine glass powder. She also creates pieces using enamels on glass. Working with glass powders continues to be her passion and her main focus as she develops her body of work.
Barb is a juried member of Summit Art in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She has pieces on display in several local galleries and has won awards for her work in several art shows.
